Shows the scale of business impact digitalisation could have in a typical company in this line of business.
Five dimensions are assessed:
- Economic leverage30 %
- How materially digitalisation could affect revenue, margin, costs, capacity or operational risk.
- Scope for digital impact20 %
- How much of the work in question can realistically be changed by software, automation, data or other digital solutions.
- Process scale and repetition20 %
- How much of the work consists of processes where a digital change can be applied repeatedly and at scale.
- Value lost today20 %
- How much value is lost today to inefficient processes, errors, delays, limited capacity, weak control or other operational shortcomings.
- Data and decision leverage10 %
- How much better use of data could improve planning, decision speed, accuracy and operational control.
Each dimension is scored from 1 to 5. The final result is calculated from the dimension weights and presented on a 100-point scale.

- 0–20impact is narrow, or largely administrative
- 21–40clear value, but limited in scope
- 41–60material impact on several important processes
- 61–80high economic value and broad impact on core operations
- 81–100digitalisation could materially change the operating model, margin, capacity or risk profile
High potential says nothing about how easy the change is to implement, or whether it has to begin now. Separate metrics answer those.
