Aquaculture production and feeding management system
The farm team records groups of farmed fish, their movement, biomass assessments and feeding. The data helps to monitor growth and plan the necessary work.
Feed batches, composition, feeding plan, actual automatic feeder work, water conditions, biomass, behaviour and growth are analyzed separately. The cost of feed, water pollution and difficulty in accurately predicting harvest time and biomass are increasing.
How the solution works
- Define the group and the initial fact of cultivation
- Agree movement, weighings and falls
- Update biomass estimate with its limits
- Execute the applied feeding and health course
- Compare the estimate with the actual yield
Key challenges
- Feed rates and actual consumption are not tied to growth
- Biomass, growth and mortality are estimated inaccurately
- Disease, treatment and biosafety actions start too late
Solution capabilities
Group Movement
Division, merging and transfer retain origin and time. The current capacity does not change the history of the entire growing cycle.
Biomass estimate
The sample method, size distribution, and model assumptions are given together with the number. A new weighing does not cancel an earlier forecast estimate.
Feeding fact
The plan, the amount of feeder issued and the actual feed consumed are allocated. The model of non-feeding molluscs does not apply these functions.
Health and Biosafety
Suspicion is passed on to the appropriate specialist. Research, assigned actions and movement restrictions are linked to the group. Treatment is chosen by an authorized specialist.
Growth Analysis
The ratio of feed to biomass has a clear formula, period and mortality accounting. Unlikely defined indicators are not compared as a single measure of efficiency.
Business context
- Feed rates and actual consumption are not tied to growth
- Feed batches, composition, feeding plan, actual automatic feeder work, water conditions, biomass, behaviour and growth are analyzed separately. The cost of feed, water pollution and difficulty in accurately predicting harvest time and biomass are increasing.
- Biomass, growth and mortality are estimated inaccurately
- Sample weighing, image data, feed, mortality, movement and environmental conditions are not sufficiently combined. Inaccurate feeding, density, sorting, sales time and capacity are planned.
- Disease, treatment and biosafety actions start too late
- Clinical signs, laboratory results, water conditions, fish movement and treatment and biosafety actions performed are not tied to a specific fish group and period. Staff delays in identifying related cases, taking protective measures and assessing the effects of treatment.
- The implementation plan is based on a reasonable estimate of the production grown
- The buyer can order fish of a certain size and quantity, but biomass remains an estimate until disposal. Data from the movement, feeding and growth of the group helps to adjust it. The farm can more reasonably discuss the expected supply while maintaining clear forecast limits.

Potential impact (%)
The ranges indicate an illustrative relative change in the metric under the stated assumptions. Results depend on the starting position and actual use of the solution. Percentages for different metrics must not be added together.
Biomass estimate error
3–16%Decreasing
This illustrative scenario assumes that 15-40% of forecast error is attributable to the data and model used. That share is assumed to fall by 20-40%. Company data is needed to verify both the addressable share and the resulting change.
Measure the absolute difference in the estimated and subsequent reliable quantity in kilograms at the agreed moment.
Group history reconciliation work
16–42%Decreasing
This illustrative scenario assumes that 40-70% of information searches and repeated cross-checks can be addressed. That share is assumed to fall by 40-60%. Company data is needed to verify both the addressable workload and the resulting change.
Measure the hours of work to match the facts of the selected growing cycle.
Conditional calculation scenarios. The assumptions have not been validated against client measurements.
When this solution is relevant
- Growing groups are moved or divided, making it difficult to preserve their feeding, biomass and health history.
- Biomass estimates are corrected without leaving a clear basis for data and calculation.
Project scope and implementation
The system is designed for managed aquaculture production: group movement, biomass estimates, and feeding and care arrangements applied. Other accounting is used for wild-caught voyages. If the method of cultivation does not include feeding, feed planning is excluded.
Further expansion
- Other species are only tested for differences in their growth, feeding and health pattern.
